Changes

A lot of changes have been happening at ButacuP.com. I’ve changed the background image. Then I decided I didn’t like it. So, I changed it, again. I messed around with the opacity and then I decided to flex my HTML powers and lock it so that the actual page content appears to float over the background image. And then I got a big bright idea for the rest of the site. You see the updates but there are other parts to ButacuP.com. I just have not showed it to you all. There are a lot of changes coming to the site, its look, the content, and available links. Do not get comfortable! I promised the entire site would be up and running and if you know me well, you know that I am a person who says something and does. Changes, they are coming!

Our job is to love others without stopping. To inquire weather they are worthy, that not our business. What we are asked to do is to love, and this love will render both ourselves and our neighbor worthy if anything can – Thomas Merton

Thought

Don’t let the opinions of the average man sway you. Dream, and he thinks you’re lucky. Acquire wealth, and he thinks you’re greedy. Pay no attention. He simply doesn’t understand – Robert G. Allen.

Rogue Backgrounds

When backgrounds go wrong. My friend and I were taking pictures and I happen to be in them. They turn out great until…..you notice the background is not cute. The background does not add to the content or to the picture. You start to flip out because the pictures are done, the photographer is going home, and you are stuck with these pictures. It is too expensive to restart and plus the sun has gone down, the perfect sunset that gave the best lighting. Now what? Well allow Photoshop to come to the rescue of course!! Use your pen or magic wand tool and extract the subject out of the picture ditching the ugly background. Paste to a new file and work with your own background idea. You can make it plain or use an existing stock photo. Never let one bad thing ruin your picture! You can always use Photoshop to make new magic happen. If you ever run out of ideas think of the content and message you are trying to share with your audience. Think also outside of the box and consider using fancy brushes in different opacity settings to create a faded and or bright look. Did this spark ideas? Well what are you waiting for then? Have a go!!

Eyebrows Gone Wrong

You might have noticed my eyebrows are going and growing in wild ways. I ask for your forgiveness!! Please don’t judge me by my eyebrows!!!! I promise I am keeping up with them. I am just letting the bald spots be filled in (long story). The rate of growth is taking a long time and I am almost ready to give up. Then again, I think the process is almost done, right? The main thing is I don’t have a uni-brow! I know a few people who have uni-brows. That’s just nasty. Please, as a friend to a friend, pluck your uni-brow!!!! Pluck it now. You’re supposed to have two eyebrows NOT one! Believe me your friends will thank you, I will thank you, and yourself will thank you.

To accomplish anything one must continually persist against all opposition. Challenge Alert!

A contest is in the making. A while back someone recognized me at the store. They said that they read through the articles all the time, and has enjoyed the content. They did make a suggestion and that was to hold a contest. I have been thinking about it and I have come up with a really good contest! The prize is a secret. The challenge is a secret….for now. I have to get together some pictures to show you what I want done. The contest should be a lot of fun but it should also be a challenge. So here is a mini challenge…keep an eye out for the challenge! It won’t be too long from now but it won’t be that short either. Keep your eyes peeled!!

Once I Was Snow White…

Once for Halloween I was Snow White. It was a plastic face mask and a cheap dress that we picked up at Target. I loved being Snow White!! It was fun being a princess and go around and have people be impressed with my cheap costume. The coolest part about Halloween is that you can walk up to any house, knock on the door, and any person at that door wants to give you candy…for free!! How cool is that!

I’m Just a Little Black Raincloud

Did you ever see the original Winnie the Pooh movie? There is a song Christopher sings while rolling in the mud. The song begins with, “I’m just a little black raincloud….” This song inspired me once to try and be a black raincloud for Halloween. I put on black jeans, black shirt, and tried to pass off as a black raincloud. It didn’t work so well.

Oooh boy, we're late again!

Added: October 23, 2009 by ButacuP

So as you've read the title, we are late again with the updates. I do appologize for the extreme gaps between updates. Things here have been more than hectic. I have had a lot on my plate and am in need of a big fat holiday. Many of you know how often I fantasize of getting sleep and at this point I am getting enough sleep to just scrape by. So I am hoping that if I ever do get a chance to take a holiday that my holiday involves a lot of sleeping. In any case my e-mail box has been flooded with people sending in their well wishes because of the recent heavy rains and flooding. Thank you all for your support and concern. I also want to thank those who helped with the donations!
Many of the e-mails were also full of questions. The most popular question: What are you going to be for Halloween? My answer: a flower! Yeah, you heard me, I am going to be a flower for Halloween. This year's costume is cheap and very cheerful. I do not have a lot of money waiting to be spent on costumes so I had to snoop around for a good deal. The headband was found at Target (yay!) for only $1!!!! To get everything going I needed to work on a color palette as far as makeup goes so that the headband would become a costume.

To be a flower you need to think like a flower. I like and love flowers and was looking for a tulip petal headband. Sadly they did not have those. I did find a cheerful looking headband that looks like it has daisy petals. To start we are working with two colors, green and yellow. The petals also have glitter. L’Oreal and Lime Crime will be our friends.
What you need: Translucent powder, Urban Decay: Eyeshadow Primer Potion, L’Oreal Panoramic Curl mascara, L’Oreal’s HIP Platinum duo and Beckoning, Lime Crime’s Pompadour, Lime Criminal, Circus Girl, and Duchess. You will also need a headband of your choice and design. Oh yes, you need an eyelash curler.
Prepare your eyelids with a moisturizer then put a thin layer of translucent powder over your eyelids, underneath the eyes, the temples, and your nose. (Trust me on this!) If you feel you are uneven all over go ahead and cover your face with the translucent powder. Apply a thin laer of Primer Potion over your lids. Start out with L’Oreal’s HIP duo and use the sparkling black. Create an outline with your brush of a wing towards the end of the eye right where the eyebrow ends. This should be over the highest part of your cheekbone. Fill in your end of the wing tip with the black and make sure it is only the end, do not fill in the whole lid. Now use L’Oreal’s Beckoning and use a packing motion over the black wing tip. Pick up Lime Crime Pompadour and use a sweeping motion from the Beckoning side to move closer to the center of your eye. Blend well. Pick up a new brush and sweep Lime Crime Duchess from the center of the eye towards your Pompadour. Blend well. Right now you should have a gradient shadow effect of blue hues. Pick up Lime Crime Lime Criminal and fill in a small strip that will nearly touch the tear duct. Blend softly the Lime Criminal with Duchess. You should now have a nice tear duct that wants your Circus Girl! Apply Circus Girl above and below the tear duct area. Imagine a V shape that surrounds the tear duct. This is your area to be covered with Circus Girl.
Now for the finishing touches. Use Lime Criminal again and gently sweep it underneath the eye from where you left off with Circus Girl. Make a long line from where you start to the very end of the wing tip. You should have a striking visual of a melodic section of blue hues to a striking green, to the golden yellow. Your work should cover up to the crease of the eye so that it creates a stunning look each time you close your eyes only to be concealed again when you open your eyes. This helps to create a soft look to the flower but creates an eye-catching look. Don't forget to curl your lashes, put on a layer of mascara, let it dry, and to curl your lashes again! To really make things pop you can opt for a golden eye shadow and clear lip gloss. Clear gloss over the lips in a nice generous manner. Then use your finger to pick up the golden shadow and over the glossy lips. You are now ready for all Hallows Eve!!
